About:

The Hull Jazz Festival is presented by J-Night, one of the leading producers of world jazz in the North of England.

Director David Porter writes: "We’ve produced the Hull Jazz Festival (summer and winter editions) since 1992. We also deliver a year-round programme in Hull, building, maintaining and developing partnerships with organisations including Hull Truck Theatre, Freedom Festival Hull, Hull Music Hub, University of Hull Creative Campus and Hull City Council.

"Since 1992, we’ve produced 1,214 shows, worked with 6,084 musicians and reached audiences of over 250,400.

"We produce programmes that give audiences access to high quality artists from across the UK and beyond. And we provide developmental opportunities for national, regional and local artists, through commissioning, mentoring and outreach.

"J-Night has been a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England since 2011, having received regular funding since 2005. We’re a founder of Jazz North and the Jazz Promotion Network and we’re proud to have been a commissioning partner for the 2017 and 2019 PRSF New Music Biennial and a support organisation for Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.

"Hull Jazz Festival is also proud to be a Keychange associate festival. We’ve pledged to reach a 50:50 gender balance in our programme by 2022, with 50% of acts programmed including at least one woman."

Directors: Gifty Burrows, Alice Porter, David Porter, Steve Shaw, Wesley Zepherin
